Skin, explained
layer by layer.
Stratum is the demo website of a fictional dermatology practice in Cologne. Its look comes from design references we collected and adapted to a skin practice: the name made of particles, round views of the skin orbiting it, and a skin model that dissolves into a dot matrix.
A demo, not a client
Stratum is not a real practice and has no patients, so we publish no outcome figures for it. Like Lamina and Mesial, every page carries the bar “Demo-Website von FIB Consulting · fiktive Praxis”, search engines do not index it, and the legal notice names the actual operator, FIB Consulting. The address and phone numbers are fictional.
Designed from references
We started from nineteen design references and kept those that suit a dermatology practice: a word mark that assembles from dust, round views of the skin orbiting it, a grainy white background, the skin model dissolving into ink dots, a dot that travels between menu items, the screening as a map of nodes with glossy 3D icons, and the conditions as cards on a turning helix that dissolve into a dither as they turn away. The fonts are Plus Jakarta Sans, Gloock and Geist Mono, all under the SIL Open Font License and served from our own server.
The skin in 3D
A block of skin in section, computed in the browser: epidermis, dermis with vessels and a nerve, a hair follicle with its sebaceous gland, a sweat gland, fat, and a mole. Six topics: the layers (point at a name and it lights up in the model), a mole under the dermatoscope and its removal, acne in the follicle, the skin barrier in eczema as bricks and mortar, psoriasis with faster renewal and scales, and how deep UV-B and UV-A reach. While the model is computed, a small pixel-art sun walks to a parasol.

Booking that ends with a ticket
Patients choose the reason, the day and the time, and leave only contact details. The confirmation looks like a holographic ticket whose sheen follows the pointer. Its stub can be torn off and becomes a calendar entry with a neutral title, without the reason for the visit. The screening page also creates a reminder two years later. In the demo nothing is sent.
Facts and rules
Facts come with sources: the screening entitlement from age 35 every two years and the open question of its benefit, the German rules on lasers (NiSV), costs in text form before self-pay services (§ 630c BGB). There are no before-and-after pictures, no names of prescription drugs and no symptom checker.
The same standard as the live sites
Stratum has the same foundation as our other websites: a holiday notice, opening hours with a live status and forms without health data. The site sets no cookies and does no visitor tracking, and the automated accessibility check (axe) finds no errors on the pages.
Try it (in German): Stratum · the skin in 3D · conditions on the helix · booking with the ticket.
